Hyderabad: Cops find drugs, vials and injections during searches

The official said that only a marks memo belonging to Rashes was found along with a few clothes in his bag.

Hyderabad: With no specific identification proofs pertaining to the deceased Sudan national Abdul Basheer alias Rashes, the efforts of Rajendranagar police to reach out to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan failed on Wednesday.

Rashes was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend Abdul Afroz, on August 14 night after a quarrel at the latter’s home in P & T Colony of Rajendranagar.

“Soon after the murder, Afroz and his girlfriend Lissa tried to escape from their home, but they were caught and their house searched. We found some sachets of ganja, injections, and some vials, suspected to be drugs. With the quantity of the ganja seized and the vials, we strongly believe that they were habituated to drugs. The probe will also focus on how they were procuring the drugs,” said a police official in Cyberabad.

The official said that only a marks memo belonging to Rashes was found along with a few clothes in his bag, which he brought while shifting to Afroz’s room.

“On learning about the murder, all of Rashes’ friends turned off their mobile phones and went absconding. There is no clue about his background,” said the official.

However, Rajendranagar inspector G. Suresh said, “The marks memo says that Rashes graduated in engineering from a college in 2016. Afroz says that Rashes came to India to do MBA but does not know at which college. Rashes had reportedly mortgaged his passport for money.”

Four teams are also searching for friends and old roommates of Rashes to know if he had any identification cards or identity card of the college where he took admission to pursue MBA in the city.

He added that Independence Day being a holiday, officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and Embassy of the Republic of Sudan were not available.

With the help of a local mediator, the teams are trying to find out more details about Rashes to inform his family members.
