Woman held for posing as constable in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old woman ‘constable’ who tried to lodge a cheating complaint against a man found herself in jail after the police found that she was an imposter and arrested her.

The accused, Gudishela Ashwini Reddy, who had posed as an Armed Reserved (AR) constable, had honey-trapped many persons, said the west zone task force police on Wednesday.

Police said Ashwini had married one Rohit Kishore three years back and the couple had two kids. She coerced her husband to commit theft. Kishore tried and was arrested many times. After he refused to steal, she threw Kishore out of the house, west zone task Force sub-inspector Mohammed Muzaffar Ali said.

Police said her next target was a trader-cum-vehicle thief K. Abhishek. She instigated him to murder Kishore, promising that she would take care of issues as she was a constable, but he did not oblige, police alleged

Abhishek was arrested for bike thefts and remanded in Chanchalguda prison. Upon release, Ashwini married him and tried to get Abhishek to steal two-wheelers again. He refused, police said.

Thereupon, Ashwini then went to the police, claimed she was an Armed Reserve constable and alleged that Abhishek had cheated her by not marrying her after having physical relations.

Police alleged that Ashwini also had relations with one Rohit Singh, the sub inspector said. During investigations, police verified with the Armed Reserve about Ashwini and found her to be an imposter with a fake ID card. She also managed to get a police uniform with badges.

In other cases, police said, Ashwini collected ₹30,000 from one Rakesh Nayak, promising him a job as an advocate at the Nampally courts with a salary of ₹50,000.

Police booked Aswhini for cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and impersonation and seized a full police uniform set from her possession.
