Trio held with countrymade guns, robberies averted
Hyderabad: The Miyapur police claimed to have averted a series of robberies with the arrest of three persons, who were in possession of countrymade guns and ammunition, on Monday.
The suspects, identified as Swan Leonard, alias Kanna, Chintakindi Sairam and Gopagani Sai Krishna, had procured the weapons from Bihar about a month ago, the police said.
“Upon receiving credible information that some persons carrying weapons were passing through Manjeera Pipeline road at Miyapur, police launched a vehicle check and caught Leonard, who tried to escape, leaving behind his two-wheeler,” a police officer said.
The police arrested the other two based on information provided by Leonard.
“Leonard, a native of Tamil Nadu and resident of Boduppal in Medchal, was working as a food delivery executive. He was arrested in the past in five cases of extortion, planning dacoity, trespass and possessing illegal arms by Cyberabad and Hyderabad police in 2014 and 2015. The other accused were arrested earlier on charges of attempt to murder, rioting and trespass,” the officer said.
