Two men arrested in Muneer Shah's murder

The crime team of Afzalgunj verified as many as 100-150 men before cracking the case, said Ganendra Reddy, police inspector of Afzalgunj.

Hyderabad: The Afzalgunj police have cracked the murder mystery of Muneer Shah, who was found bludgeoned to death in a function hall last week and arrested two men on Friday.

According to the police, Shah has been threatening and extorting money from the duo and also has a murder case and two robbery cases against him.

The arrested were identified as Shiva alias Krishna, 36, a resident of Dhoolpet, and a native of Zaheerabad, who is involved in seven theft cases and T. Nagaraj, 26, who works in a function hall and hails from Nizamabad, police said.

Muneer Shah, 40, a labourer, was found murdered at Rasheedia Function Hall in Yakutpura on June 7.

Based on a complaint given by Aslam Bin Khaled, the owner of the function hall, a case was booked under Section 302 (murder) of IPC and an investigation was initiated.

The crime team of Afzalgunj verified as many as 100-150 men before cracking the case, said P. Ganendra Reddy, police inspector of Afzalgunj.

“Shah is a local who extorts money from people and is also a property offender. He threatened Shiva and demanded money. When he refused, Shah drew a blade from his pocket and cut Shiva’s neck, grazing the skin. He further told him that the next time he sees him, he should pay up. Shiva later learnt that Muneer had threatened his paramour. Developing a grudge, Shiva and Nagaraj teamed up and beat Shah up with sticks before throwing a boulder on his head on June 6,” the official said.

The two men were booked for murder and were sent to judicial remand on Friday.
