Hyderabad: The Mirchowk police registered a case against Dawood Ali Sam, founder of Jazakhallah Khair Foundation, a city-based charitable organisation for threatening a news reporter.
According to the complaint lodged by the reporter Noor Mohammed, who works for a Telugu channel, Dawood had waylaid him while he was going along the Mandi Mir Alam road and manhandled him. The channel had shown the news of Dawood being arrested by the Golconda police last year in connection with an assault case.
Dawood Ali and some social activists had differences over collection of donations from the community during Ramzan. Inspector Mirchowk, L. Bala Chouhan, said that following the complaint by Mr Mohammed a case under Section 506 was registered against Ali and he was arrested.
