Telangana: Fake recruiter for Dubai jobs arrested

Police seized eight passports, six fake educational certificates and a cell phone from them.

Hyderabad: The Central Zone Task Force on Thursday raided and arrested two persons who were running a fake manpower agency that cheated people after promising them to arrange visas and jobs in Dubai.

The arrested are Mohd Ashraf, 32, a resident of Amberpet, and his employee Sukka Shiva Kumar, alias Chintu, 23, a resident of Nacharam, who were running Al-Sidra Tours and Travels.

Police seized eight passports, six fake educational certificates and a cell phone from them. “Ashraf was running the fake manpower agency without permission from the Ministry of External Affairs and was cheating people by posing as a licenced and authorised recruitment agent for employers in Dubai. He would charge Rs 50,000 or more from each aspirant,” Commissioner’s Task Force DCP B. Limba Reddy said.

The accused used to collect passports and monies from several people and then abscond, the police said. Ashraf had also sent some people to Dubai, but on visitor visas rather than employment visas. Many of these victims had returned to India after great difficulties, Mr Reddy said.
