Telangana: Chennai call raises Poornima Sai hope

On Wednesday night, police received a call from an unidentified person, who claimed to be calling from Chennai.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police, who have been looking for the missing Class X student Poornima Sai of Bachupally, have reportedly got some clue on her whereabouts.

On Wednesday night, police received a call from an unidentified person, who claimed to be calling from Chennai. He said that he had seen a girl with features similar to those of Poornima in Chennai. The caller stated that the girl was wearing a school uniform and was with a teenage boy.

Following up on this, police is sending teams to Chennai and has got in touch with the girl’s relatives there. Investigating officials said they received a call at around 1 am on Thursday, in which the caller said that he came across the pictures of the girl circulated on social media and spotted a girl with similar features.

After this call, police now suspects that the girl could have been kidnapped by unidentified persons. With her parents suspecting no such thing, the police is looking into other angles too. “We are yet to confirm if the girl whom the caller saw was Poornima. Once we are clear on that, we can move further,” an official said.

Poornima had gone missing from Bhashyam School in Nizampet on June 7. Initial inquiries revealed that she was unhappy with her school reopening much before the scheduled date and was depressed with the pressure from the school and from her parents.
