Hyderabad: Mailardevpally police raided a gutka manufacturing unit operating without a valid licence or permission and booked seven persons, including the supervisor, on Thursday.
The officials seized tobacco bags, gutka materials, machines and other items. “Mallishetti Srinivas, 53, the supervisor who claims to be the owner of the unit in Rajendranagar mandal, was running the firm illegally and without permission, violating government orders on gutka prohibition,” said Mailardevpally police.
Police has detained Srinivas and others for further questioning. In another incident, South Zone Task Force team raided a gutka manufacturing centre in Moghalpura police station limits and seized 1.3 lakh gutka packets and arrested one person. The accused, Mohd Shareef, was sent to Moghalpura police station for investigation.
