Girl's letter denies rape by godman Swami Ganeshananda

Claims three people instigated her.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Adding more drama to the rape case involving Swami Gangesananda, his lawyer produced a letter purportedly written by the victim, in which she claimed that she was not sexually abused by the swami. Defence advocate Shasthamangalam Ajithkumar sought bail for Gangesananda who was bobbitised by the female law student. The letter, which Mr Ajithkumar claims to have received over registered post, says that three people instigated her into attempting to cut off the swami’s genitals.

The letter written in English says her friend Ayyappadas and swami’s aides Manoj Murali and Ajithkumar made her believe that the swami was looting her family. She claims to have run away after attempting to cut off the genitals as the swami cried loudly. “Ayyappadas had asked me to go to police officer B. Sandhya’s house and ring the calling bell and to call (on phone) and inform him,” she said. Since nobody was there at home, she dialled the emergency number 100 and the policemen came after 20 minutes. They took her to the Pettah station and allegedly wrote and re-wrote statements without informing her about the details.

“During the whole day, different police officers at different time gaps met me and asked me to comply with their stories,” the letter says. She also alleges in the letter that the magistrate did not explain anything to her and just recorded it. The court has called for the case diary in connection with the case before hearing on the petition. Swami’s lawyer demanded bail for him as the interrogation process was over.
