Belagavi: A couple was brutally hacked to death by an unidentified gang near Ramdurg, for allegedly having an extra-marital affair. The deceased have been identified as Rajeshwari (25) and Basavaraj Naik (26) of Ramdurg and the police launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
According to the police, Rajeshwari, daughter of Venkatrao Desai, was staying at Shivapet near Ramdurg. Some months ago, Rajeshwari got married to Basavaraj Patil, a resident of the same village. Police said she was having an extramarital affair with Basavaraj Naik and both of them were missing from Ramdurg for the last two months.
Two missing complaints were lodged with Ramdurg police by both parties two months ago. The police, who were in search of the couple, were shocked to know that the two were hacked to death by an unidentified group at a house near Shivapet. They were believed to have been beaten to death with stones and weapons.
