Kids of dead CRPF cop accuse aunt of torture for money

The children alleged that their aunt booked false cases against them, and the younger boy had to leave her home unable to bear torture.

Hyderabad: The children of CRPF hawaldar A Suramma, who died recently, on Tuesday approached the Rachakonda police commissioner, alleging that their aunt was harassing the younger sibling for their mother's death benefits. Suramma was with the CRPF 88th Battalion and died in October 2012.

The children alleged that their aunt booked false cases against them, and the younger boy had to leave her home unable to bear her torture. They also alleged that the Medipally police was harassing them under the guise of investigation.

Suramma’s sons P. Manoj and Ashrith Varma received Rs 8.60 lakh as her post-death benefits, which was divided into half and deposited into their individual accounts.

While Manoj came to Secunderabad in search of a job, Ashrith stayed with his aunt Mukthala Rekha. From the time Ashrith’s account was credited with the amount, she started allegedly torturing him.

She reportedly withdrew a total of Rs 3.30 lakh. When Ashrith questioned her, she alleged beat him and abused him. Unable to bear this, Ashrith left home to live with his elder brother.

Two days ago, when he went back to his aunt’s home to collect his certificates, Rekha along with one Nagaraju assaulted him and accused him of theft of gold jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh. He escaped from them and came to his elder brother.

Rekha lodged a theft case against Ashrith with Medipally police. Since then, the police has been harassing them to appear and surrender the stolen property. The brothers then approached the commissioner and lodged a petition.
