Two GHMC officials get RI on graft charge

Hyderabad: The special court of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday awarded Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) to two Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials after they were found guilty of taking bribe from the complainant.

The court sentenced two years of RI and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 to the accused R. Jayasree the then section officer of Rajendranagar circle VI GHMC.

The accused officer on November 7, 2012, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe from the complainant, P. Praveen Kumar to do an official favour.

Jayasree’s assistant G. Sripathi, who had collected the bribe amount from Praveen and handed it to Jayasree, was also sentenced to undergo six months RI and fined of Rs 5,000, a press release issued by ACB said. On a complaint, the ACB trapped them while they were accepting the bribe and arrested both of them.
