Hyderabad: Two thieves tried to loot an ICICI ATM, located in Chaitanyapuri, in the wee hours of Wednesday. Locals foiled their bid and chased the men away.
The suspects entered the ICICI ATM at Green Hills Colony in Chaitanyapuri and tried to break the cash dispenser with a hammer and a crowbar, Abdullapurmet police said adding that no money was lost.
The miscreants managed to damage the cash machine but before they could make away with the money, their attempts were promptly foiled by the alert locals. The thieves fled from the spot when local people rushed to the spot. One of them dialled 100 and informed the police.
Police rushed to spot and verified the CCTV footage at the ATM centre. A case has been registered in this regard and efforts are on to trace and arrest the miscreants.
