Chennai: Man held for allegedly threatening ex-lady love
Chennai: A 23-year-old MBA graduate was arrested for allegedly threatening and uploading a girl's explicit videos and pictures online. The distressed woman has now approached the police seeking legal action. Priya (name changed), a 23-year-old girl, has filed a complaint. The case, which was first reported at the Pattabhiram police station was later referred to the Avadi AWPS and the staff there are maintaining a tight lip on the case, at least until the preliminary investigations are over, unlike what happened in the Pollachi case.
According to the complaint, the girl was in a relationship with Jayaprakash, a resident of Pathiyalpettai in Tiruvallur. They were classmates in a private college in Tiruninravur and had, at one point, even decided to get married.
But following frequent fallouts with him due to his behaviour, the girl broke the relationship with him. Reportedly, the boy had taken pictures and videos of the girl, allegedly without her knowledge or consent. She knew of the matter only after she ended the relationship over other irreconcilable differences.
After the break-up, the boy reportedly called her and told her that he had obscene videos of her. He threatened to leak them online if the girl called the relationship off, said the victim.
Based on the complaint, the police have booked Jayaprakash under Sections 376 (rape), 506(2) (criminal intimidation) of IPC and 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) of IT Act and arrested him. Further investigations are on.
