Man promises job, molests Nagaland woman

The accused brought her from Nagaland to Bengaluru on the pretext of getting her a job

Bengaluru: A woman hailing from Nagaland, was allegedly sexually molested by a man, who brought her to the city on the pretext of getting her a job. According to the police, the incident happened 2-3 years ago and the complaint was registered with the National Women Commission recently, which was forwarded to Vivek Nagar police station.

The police said the complaint was looked into and the police found out that the victim is in Nagaland while the accused, Lalith, is a resident of HSR Layout. The victim in her complaint stated that Lalith brought her from Nagaland to the city on the pretext of getting her a job. But he sexually assaulted her over a couple of months before she could escape from his house. But when questioned, Lalith claimed that she had fled from the house with his money.

A senior police officer said, “The victim should visit the police station for confirming if the accused is Lalith and should also provide evidence, as the incident happened a couple of years back. If the victim fails to turn up, we will take the help of the National Commission for Women to proceed with the investigation.

The complaint was directed to Vivek Nagar police station, but according to the complainant, the incident as occurred in HSR Layout. So the complaint has been transferred to HSR Layout police station for further investigation.”

“For now we have no details of the victim, as she has gone back to Nagaland. More information is required for the investigation as the information provided by the victim is very less,” the officer added.
