Warangal: Mattewada police in Warangal has registered a case against Telangana State Chess Association secretary Annam Chinni Venkateswarlu for posting pornographic material in a WhatsApp group.
Mr Pedada Sivakrishna, a civil engineer staying in Bank Colony here, lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday. He said he was added as member of the TSCA009 WhatsApp group by Venkateswarlu. The group had many members including girls and women.
“Posting such pronographic videos and photographs hurt the sentiments of the members. The group was meant for chess professionals and sharing of information relating to the game,” he said. “I am shocked to see those photos were posted by the secretary.” He handed over his mobile phone to the police for evidence.
Mattewada circle inspector M. Ravi Kumar said police had registered a case (45/2017) under Section 292 of the IPC (on distribution of lascivious material) and Section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2008 (Publishing of information which is obscene in electronic form).
