Puducherry: 3 candidates share Jipmer exam paper on WhatsApp, disqualified
Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) administration on Wednesday disqualified three candidates, who wrote the entrance examination to fill the posts of nurses, on charges of posting the question paper on WhatsApp, after the examination.
“Two candidates were disqualified for possessing a mobile phone in the exam hall and one candidate was disqualified for taking away the question booklet at the end of exam”, an official press release said
Jipmer conducted a written test for recruitment of nurses on Sunday at 30 centres in Puducherry in which a total of 11,024 candidates appeared for the test. Immediately after the examination the photos of the question papers were circulated on social media which invited much criticism.
The candidates alleged that chances are there for the question papers being leaked before the examination so that the examination should be conducted again.
Denying the charges the Jipmer administration said that legal action is being initiated in the matter. Evaluation of the answer sheet is on and the result is expected to be announced shortly, the statement added.
Jipmer staff observe a black day
Jipmer faculty observe ‘Black Day’ on Wednesday to highlight various grievances, including the delay in filling of posts of doctors and nurses, which was impacting patient services.
The faculty members attended their work by wearing ‘black badges’ to register their protest. Many wards in Jipmer remain unused for many years and operating theatres are running below capacity even as waiting lists of patients piled up, said M. S. Gopalakrishnan, president of the Jipmer Faculty Association (JFA).
Jipmer lacked even the basic requirement of functioning as 24 hours emergency clinical laboratory due to the shortage of laboratory technicians, the faculty alleged.
