Hyderabad: Girl saved from child marriage
The marriage of the 14-year-old girl was to be held at Sadhana Function Hall, Shamshabad, on Thursday.
Hyderabad: A tip-off from child welfare activists helped the district administration foil a child marriage, after they initially faced opposition from local level leaders.
According to the Balala Hakkula Sangham, the marriage of the 14-year-old girl was to be held at Sadhana Function Hall, Shamshabad, on Thursday.
Attempts to save the girl failed due to pressure from local politicians. The activists complained to the Ranga Reddy district collector, child development project officer and DCP, Shamshabad, who rescued the girl, daughter of one Gorukunta Prabhakar. She was later shifted to a girls Home.
