BENGALURU: A 12-year-old boy who was seeing fireworks display at an event during the St. Sebastian Festival on the premises of Our Lady Lourdes Church on Sunday died on the spot after a rocket cracker fell and burst on his head. The incident occurred around 9 pm in Halasur and the deceased, Dhanush, was the son of Suresh Kumar and Usha, residents of C.K. Achukattu.
A student of Delhi Public School, Dhanush loved crackers and was at the cracker bursting event on the church premises organised in the second week of January every year by the St. Sebastian Association. Dhanush went to the church along with his parents around 8 pm on Sunday. A lit cracker rocket fell on his head
and burst, injuring Dhanush seriously. He was rushed to the Bowring Hospital, where the doctors declared Dhanush brought dead, the police said. Halasur police rushed to the spot and booked church authorities and members of the St. Sebastian Association for causing the death due to negligence.
