Gang posing as CBI officials loot huge stocks of gold, diamonds from flat
Hyderabad: In what seems to be a plot straight from a Bollywood movie, four persons posing as CBI officials decamped with 1,340 grams of gold ornaments, diamond sets and Rs 2 lakh cash from a flat at a gated community in Nanakramguda, Gachibowli, police reported on Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Monday and it came to light when a woman, Bhagyalakshmi, wife of a realtor, lodged a complaint with the police. She said four people came to her apartment in Jayabheri Orange County, Nanakramguda in the afternoon and introduced themselves as CBI officials. They told her that they were there to conduct a search.
As per the FIR, the men arrived in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, flashed their ID cards and entered the house. They asked the woman and her three children to sit down and told their drivers to remain in the hall.
“They entered the bedroom and took the locker keys from the handbag and opened the locker. They took hold of the family’s gold and diamond ornaments along with some cash, before leaving the place,” said the police.
It took time for the woman to realize she was cheated. She approached the police to file a complaint on Monday evening.
“We are accessing the CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits,” police said.
Meanwhile, the complainant said she can identify the men. Special teams have been deputed to trace and nab them.
