Hyderabad: Man transports gutka via RTC, held

A gutka circulating agent and seized four bags of gutka worth Rs 2 lakh, Rs 20,000, 18 ATM cards of various banks from his possession.

Hyderabad: Commissioner’s task force, south zone, with the assistance of the Mirchowk police, apprehended a gutka circulating agent and seized four bags of gutka worth Rs 2 lakh, Rs 20,000, a bike, and 18 ATM cards of various banks from his possession. The arrested was identified as Kotha Subramanya Prasad alias K.S. Prasad, 41, an English faculty from Vivekananda Nagar colony of Kukatpally and a native of Kadapa. His associates, Jaani, Sanjay Bhatia and Khaja, an auto driver, are absconding, said the police.

Jaani and Sanjay supplied gutka and zarda to Prasad as per the order placed by him. They transported it in an auto to Khaja’s house and as per the schedule of RTC buses, Prasad shifted the stash to MGBS in a phased manner in the auto.

“To overcome the risk of being caught, he transported it via RTC buses and has about 100 retailers in Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor, Anantapur, Prakasham and Guntur districts. He was arrested based on a tip- off from a credible source by the task force police and was handed over to the Mirchowk police for taking further action.
