Visakhapatnam: Jail for 3 in dowry death case

Visakhapatnam: The Tenth Additional Sessions Court in Anakapalli on Tuesday convicted a man to 10 years in prison and his parents to seven years in prison after they were found guilty of driving a woman to suicide for dowry.

The man was identified as Buri Nagaraju and his parents were Buri Narsamma and Buri Narayana Rao. The case was registered in PM Palem police station under Section 304-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the prosecution, Perugu Appalaswamy lodged a complaint at PM Palem police station in Visakhapatnam alleging that his sister was harassed by her husband Buri Nagaraju and his parents for additional dowry. Unable to bear their mental torture, she died by suicide at her PM Palem Colony residence by hanging herself from the ceiling fan on June 19, 2017.

The police registered a case and after investigation, the investigating officer and ACP North Division B.V.S. Nageswara Rao filed a chargesheet in the court. After the conclusion of the trial, the judge came to the conclusion that the accused were guilty of all charges. She pronounced judgment convicting the husband and his parents to jail terms.
