Telangana: Woman ends life over job
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman committed suicide at home after her parents compelled her to quit her job. C. Kavitha, who was working as a sales representative for an Ayurvedic firm in the city, hanged herself inside her house when her parents were sleeping. Police said Kavitha’s parents were looking for matrimonial alliances for her. They were worried that the job, which demands frequent travelling, might hit marriage proposals.
“She had to attend meetings in different cities. Twenty days ago, she went to Tirupati. When she came back, her parents asked her to quit as they were worried that neighbours might spread rumours about her, which would hit her marriage prospects,” said a police official. Her parents also asked her not to leave the house for a few days. She apparently got depressed and hanged herself in the kitchen using a rope. Police booked a case and started an investigation.
