Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police on Saturday arrested a 52- year-old DTP operator on charges of raping his daughter. The police said that the incident occurred eight years ago, but the girl did not lodge a complaint due to fear.
According to the police, the suspect was identified as Mohammed Sadiq, who stays in BS Maqtha and works in Nampally.
Around eight years ago, while his wife was away from home, he raped his only daughter who was 19 then. He warned her not to reveal it to her mother. Since then he had raped her on multiple occasions. Unable to bear his harassment, the girl left home and was staying in a private hostel. She also secured a job in a private firm.
Recently, she went home to meet the parents. Her father took advantage of the situation and demanded sexual favours from her and threatened her of dire consequences if she did not agree to his demand.
Fed up with his torture, she lodged a complaint.
Based on the victim’s statement, the father was arrested and remanded to custody, Mr S. Ravinder, inspector of Punjagutta station, said.
