Hyderabad: Youth held for stealing motorbikes

Officials seized 15 bikes from him, all worth Rs 7 Lakh.

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man was arrested for committing a series of bike thefts since March 2017 in the city by the SR Nagar Police on Friday. Officials seized 15 bikes from him, all worth Rs 7 Lakh.

The arrested was identified as Nemmoju Prabhu Charry, a resident of Miryalaguda and a native of Suryapet, police said.

He migrated to Hyderabad in search of job from Nalgonda and when he could not get one, he hatched a plan to steal motorbikes using a fake key, said DCP, West Zone, A.R. Srinivas.

“He started his offences in March 2017 and is involved in 11 cases in the city” said the official.

The crime team of SR Nagar Police said that one of the bikes that was reported stolen was used by one Gopal Reddy at Hayath Nagar and he was taken into custody. “Based on information gathered from him, a team went to Gudur village of Miryalaguda and apprehended Prabhu Charry,” added the DCP.
