Bengaluru: Woman, daughter die in accident

According to police, the incident took place near Lumbini Garden at around 11 pm on Thursday.

Bengaluru: Four people died in three separate accidents across the city since Thursday and three of them died on the spot.

In the first accident, a woman and her daughter died on the spot after a vehicle rammed the bike they were riding on in Hebbal traffic police station limits.

The deceased woman has been identified as Surekha (30) and her daughter Aradhya (3).

They were residents of CBI Road in Ganga Nagar and the accident happened while they were returning from their friend’s house after Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Surekha’s husband Raghvendra, a hotel owner, was riding the bike while she and her daughter were riding pillion.

According to police, the incident took place near Lumbini Garden at around 11 pm on Thursday. An overspeeding unidentified vehicle rammed their bike, killing the two on the spot. Raghvendra, however, escaped with minor injuries.

The Hebbal traffic police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem.

They are examining the CCTV footage from the cameras installed nearby.

In the second incident, a 40-year-old biker man died on the spot after a speeding lorry knocked down his bike. The incident took place at 7 pm on Friday and the deceased has been identified as Narasimhamurthy, a resident of Nallur in Devanahalli Taluk.

According to police, Narasimhamurthy was going to Hosakote from Devanahalli when a lorry grazed his bike.

“Narasimhamurthy lost control over his bike and his head hit the lorry. He fell off the bike and sustained severe head injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed,” the police said.

The Devanahalli traffic police have detained the lorry driver, Ram Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh and begun investigation.

In the third incident, a 21-year-old bike-borne youth died after he lost control over his bike and rammed into a tree on Thursday midnight in Jalahalli traffic police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Vinayak, a resident Muthyala Nagar, and a daily wager.
