E-bikes gutted during charging

Residents said that two bikes were plugged to an electric supply point for charging when the battery of one of them exploded

Hyderabad: Two e-bikes parked in the basement of a residential building at Kushaiguda in the city were gutted on Sunday evening. Residents said that two bikes were plugged to an electric supply point for charging when the battery of one of them exploded. The resultant fire engulfed both bikes.

Alerted by locals, police, fire and DRF teams rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Kushaiguda police said they did not receive any complaint on the incident.

The bikes are owned by P. Haribabu, a businessman, residing in the first floor of the building and were purchased a few months ago. The bikes had been charged for less than an hour when the battery exploded with a loud sound.
