Notorious goon Kadavi' Ranjith, five aides held
Thrissur: In view of the recent attack carried out in Thrissur by goons operating under notorious criminal ‘Kadavi’ Ranjith, the gangster was on Saturday night picked up by Nedupuzha police along with five other gang-members at Vadookara. Eight members of the gang were travelling in an autorickshaw and three members of the gang managed to escape from the vehicle. Police are on the lookout for them.
Two machetes were seized from them. Police said that the gang was planning an operation at night while they were intercepted by police. Nedupuzha SI S. Shaji told DC that the incidents of hurling a country bomb at the house of a police driver at Avanur and throwing a cracker into the courtyard of a chicken trader at Aranattukara on Friday and attack on five policemen including the SI of Ollur police station during an operation to arrest the goons on Saturday morning were carried out by the members of the criminal gang of Ranjith.
Though Ranjith was booked under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) and lodged in Kannur Jail was released a months ago and soon he and his gang members started threatening several traders in Thrissur town demanding money to conduct several criminal cases pending against them. Police have initiated action against Ranjith to again slap KAAPA on him.
