Tamil Nadu: I-T sleuths quiz health minister C Vijayabhaskar's father

Chennai: Health minister C Vijayabhaskar's father Chinnathampi was grilled by I-T officials in Chennai on Friday for nearly 4 hours from 9.30 am. Sources said that the income tax officials had questioned him in connection with income generated from stone and sand quarries of the minister at Thiruvengaivasal and Muthudayanpatti village near Pudukkottai.

It may be recalled that Chinnathampi was questioned at Trichy I-T office immediately after the sleuths carried out state- wide raids. I-T sleuths on April 7 had raided residences and premises at 35 places across Tamil Nadu belonging to health minister Dr C. Vijayabhaskar, actor turned politician Sarath Kumar and Dr MGR Medical University Vice Chancellor Dr S Geethalakshmi and during raids unaccounted cash over Rs 5.5 crores was seized along with documents showing a distribution plan of Rs 89 crore as cash for votes in RK Nagar by-poll, which was called off later.
