Vijayawada: Baby goes missing from kids' hospital
Vijayawada: A six day-old baby boy went missing under mysterious circumstances from the government children’s hospital in Vijayawada this afternoon with his mother alleging that the child had been stolen.
Subramanyam and Kalyani of Kothapeta had admitted their newly born baby for treatment of jaundice in the government children’s hospital four days ago. The baby was kept in the incubator for treatment.
The mother, who was keeping vigil outside the room noticed that the baby missing and raised an alarm. She said she had seen an unidentified woman leaving the room with the baby.
Hospital staff informed policemen deployed at the police post in the hospital. A case has been registered and police have taken up investigation. Ms Kalyani, the missing baby’s mother, said, “I was worried about my baby as he was sick. I am praying to God to reunite my baby with me.”
Five teams to search for kidnapped boy
The missing baby boy’s mother Kalyani was ad-mitted in the same hospital a week earlier and gave birth. She has now lost the baby within a week in the same hospital.
“The hospital CCTV cameras are not working properly. I have examined it. The hospital lacks administration staff to look after this issue,” said hospital superintendent Jagan Mohan.
“As per the orders of the commissioner, we have divided into five teams and the search is going on,” said a police official. Meanwhile, minister Kamineni Srinivas, resp-onding to the issue, has ordered an inquiry and suspension of the staff responsible for the incident.
