Telangana: Taxman faces dowry charge

Police booked a case against the DCTO under the Dowry Harassment Act on June 13.

ADILABAD: Deputy Commercial Tax Officer (DCTO) E. Yugandhar’s wife Rajakumari, filed a complaint with the police at the Srirampur women’s police station in Mancherial alleging that her husband and in-laws were harassing her more dowry. Police booked a case against the DCTO under the Dowry Harassment Act on June 13.

E. Yugandhar married Rajakumari of Godhavrikhani in February 2013 and has a one-year-old kid. Both were living separately due to differences since the last two years. Yugandhar who hails from Karimnagar district was recently transferred to Mancherial from Kottagudem.

Rajakumari reportedly alleged in her complaint that Yugandhar had started suspecting her fidelity after they had a child and started harassing her and her in-laws for dowry.

A few days ago, Rajakumari lodged a complaint with the Naspur police who counselled the wife and husband. Police gave them two days to reconcile but they did not.
