Telangana: Creditors wanted three times loan amount, says suspect
Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman approached the SHRC complaining that she was being harassed by creditors, although she was paying back their money and that the Chilkalguda inspector was supporting them.
S. Lalitha and her husband Srivastava, were accused in nearly 10 cheating cases across the city and she and her husband were arrested in 2012.
Lalitha, working as a senior sales manager at Exide Insurance, said in her petition that she borrowed around Rs 12 lakh from colleagues, who ran a finance firm. They forced her to pay thrice the borrowed amount in the next three months. Recently they had started harassing her to pay Rs 12 lakh again.
She said that in March, when she was not at home, they entered her home and took away Rs 4 lakh worth gold jewellery, Rs 2 lakh in cash and her husband’s passport, but after a police complaint, she could get back the passport, but not the gold and cash.
“In March, while I was returning home from work in a car along with my manager, they kidnapped me and forcefully took away Rs 3.5 lakh from my handbag. Everyday, their men are following me and threatening to kill me,” Lalitha said in her petition. She alleged that when she approached the police, the inspector did not take action and forced her to compromise.
Chilkalguda inspector K. Srinivasulu said that Lalitha was filing false complaints to divert the investigation against her and her husband. “She is an accused in two cheating cases here. In 2012 she was arrested and sent to judicial custody,” said Mr Srinivasulu.
Lalitha and her husband Srivastava is an accused in a cheating case in Banjara Hills. She is accused of cheating around 10 women, after offering high returns on investments on villas in Vizag, where Tollywood actors have also invested.
