Hyderabad: ATM burglar caught within 24 hours after he loots five lakh cash

HYDERABAD: Swift action by sleuths from central crime station (CCS) Balanagar and KPHB police led to the arrest of an ATM technician within 24 hours after he opened a Bank of Maharashtra ATM at Radha Krishna Estate, road 4 in KPHB, with a master key and took away five lakh cash. The stolen money and the master key were recovered from his possession.

Suddala Harish, 29, an ATM technician from Karimnagar, employed with petro ATM services, was picked up from his house in Dwarkanagar, Qutubullapur in the early hours of Sunday by

KPHB detective inspector and CCS personnel, said P. Srinivas Rao, DCP, Balanagar at a press conference.

Around 11 am on Saturday Kommu Venkata Sridhar Sastry, manager of Bank of Maharashtra, KPHB branch, lodged a complaint with KPHB police stating that he had received a call from E -surveillance team of the bank head office in Pune that an unidentified person was committing theft from the ATM, Srinivas Rao said.

The police formed a special team along with Balanagar CCS, checked the CCTV footage, identified the culprit through their informants and arrested him within 24 hours, he said.
