Kerala man in acid attack case arrested

According to sources, Pramod was picked up near Kochi and is expected to arrive in Hyderabad around late Monday night.

Hyderabad: The 25-year-old from Kerala who travelled to the city to throw acid on a nurse who rejected his advances, was reportedly nabbed by the police in his native place in Kerala on Monday.

After a manhunt for the attacker, Pramod, the search parties nabbed him from Kerala and are bringing him back to the city on transit warrant, sources said.
According to sources, Pramod was picked up near Kochi and is expected to arrive in Hyderabad around late Monday night.

The victim, Jisha Shaji, 23, in the city, identified as a native of Kerala, was working as a staff nurse in Apollo Hospital in Banjara Hills and was attacked with acid Pramod, on May 10.

According to police, Pramod, Jisha’s neighbour from her native place in Kerala, had arrived in the city on May 10 and met her with acid in a Kinley water bottle and had pre planned the attack.

Pramod waited for her shift to end and met her near the outgate of the hospital around 5.30 pm and started talking to her, Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas said.

“He has been following for years and she kept turning him down. On May 10, Pramod picked up a heated argument with Jisha. When she turned to walk away, he threw the acid on her, causing 10 per cent burns,” said the official.
