Hyderabad: 12-year-old was sexually assaulted earlier too
Hyderabad: The 12-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by tuition teacher C. Gopi at Meerpet two days ago, had been a victim of sexual abuse in the past. The first assault, involving a minor boy, was not reported earlier.
Police said that the victim revealed details of the first attack on her when she was being counselled. The boy was identified as per the clues given by the victim.
Gopi has been arrested and sent to remand.
DCP, LB Nagar, M. Venkateswar Rao, while announcing the arrest of Gopi, said the girl was first sexually assaulted by the minor, who is Gopi’s neighbour.
The victim’s mother had passed away and her father abandoned her. She was studying in a government residential school and used to come to her aunt’s house during holidays.
The first attack on her occurred during the Sankranti holidays. Mr Rao said that when she was playing outside her house, a minor who stays in the neighborhood called her to his home and sexually abused her.
She did not inform anyone of the incident at that time. After she narrated the details of the incident during counselling, police identified the boy. A probe is on to verify the details of the incident, the DCP said.
He said after verifying the details, the police would pick up the minor and produce him before the Juvenile Justice Board. Mr Rao said the police had nabbed the accused in recent assault, tuition teachr C. Gopi. He had attempted to rape the girl at his home when she had come to his home for drinking water. When she resisted, he forcefully closed her mouth and tried to rape her.
