Thiruvananthapuram: Man held for duping job-seekers
Thiruvananthapuram: Cantonment police on Thursday arrested a person who duped people in Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts after collecting money promising jobs in government service.
The person was identified as Praveen Balachandran, 33 of Puthur in Palakkad district.
He ‘issued’ the appointment orders after creating fake letter heads and signatures of heads of department. The issue came to light after the officials of Keltron grew suspicious about the appointment orders of some persons who came to join. Following this, the matter was referred to the general administration department. After these persons understood that they had been duped when their appointment orders were verified by the general administration department, they submitted a complaint to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who forwarded it to the Cantonment police.
The fraud was arrested from Perinthalmanna and the computer used for making the fake certificates was recovered from him. Police also recovered a Xylo car he had stolen from a person in Karamana from his possession. He duped persons after introducing himself as the director of Jalanidhi. The identity card of Jalanidhi was recovered from the person.
