Hyderabad: Man held for sexually abusing school friend
Hyderabad: A 31-year-old man was arrested by the Meerpet police on Tuesday and charged with sexually exploiting and blackmailing a woman. According to the police, E. Ravi, the accused, was a friend of the victim.
Ravi, a native of Pallepati village in Gadwal district, contacted the victim in 2016. He began threatening her saying that he would post intimate pictures of her on social media and share them with her husband and relatives.
“Believing that he actually had pictures of her, the victim began sending him money. She deposited '2.5 lakh in his bank account,” said A. Manmohan, inspector of Meerpet.
Mr Manmohan said that the accused and the victim had been schoolmates in Kalwakurthy. “After taking the money, he started sexually exploiting her. When she met him, he raped her and took some more money from her,” he said.
When the woman finally filed a complaint, the police intervened. They caught him red-handed when he came to her house to collect money from her on Tuesday.
The police seized Ravi’s bike and a mobile phone. They arrested him and booked a case against him under relevant Sections of the IPC and the IT Act.
