Hyderabad: Sorcerer marries 18-year-old girl, held
Hyderabad: A 65-year-old sorcerer, who lured an 18-year-old girl and married her, was arrested by the police on Tuesday. The girl had met him seeking treatment for a thyroid problem.
The suspect, Syed Abbas Peer Quadri, who has two wives, took the girl home without her parents’ consent. The girl’s parents lodged a missing complaint at Chandrayangutta police station when she went missing. The girl was traced to Ahmed Nagar on March 13.
The girl said her marriage was about to be cancelled as the groom knew about her medical condition. She visited Quadri seeking treatment. She was brain washed by the sorcerer, and left home in distress without informing her parents. She later met the baba, who promised to cure her.
The girl was impressed by his oratory. Exploiting the situation, baba married her, police said. Police arrested Quadri for cheating and sorcery. Cops issued an FIR booking a case under Section 420 and 4AB, and 7 of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act 1954, officials said.
