Anantapur: Annamayya district’s Rayachoti police solved the mystery of a TV channel reporter being shot by arresting a trader Md. Ilyas and his close aides on Tuesday.
DSP Sridhar said the reporter Parvatha Reddy is from Proddatur area. He had been blackmailing a Proddatur trader, Ilyas, who transported animals and beef.
Ilyas hatched a plan to eliminate the reporter with the help of two UP-based traders. They shot Parvatha Reddy near Rayachoti 15 days ago. However, the reporter survived after being admitted to Vellore hospital, where doctors removed the bullet from his body.
Police have registered a case based on a complaint by the reporter. They arrested Ilyas and his accomplices on Tuesday and seized a pistol from them.
