Hyderabad: Three arrested for stealing from temple

They recovered 9.5 kg of silver articles, a bike and some electronic goods from them.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Thursday arrested three persons, who were notorious for temple thefts in the city and neighbouring districts.

They recovered 9.5 kg of silver articles, a bike and some electronic goods from them. The three were produced before a court for judicial remand.

According to Cyberabad police, B, Nagendrababu, 26, P. Harish Babu, 24, and K. Vishal Chandra, 19, all Shamirpet residents, have committed 23 thefts at temples located in Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Siddipet police commissionerates.

Explaining their modus operandi, the police said Vishal would conduct a recce and identify temples during the day while Nagendrababu and Harish would enter the temples late at night and steal the ornaments. During the theft, Vishal would keep an eye on people’s movement outside.

Earlier, in 2017, Shamirpet police had arrested Nagendrababu and Harish for housebreaking offenses. After their release from jail in June 2018, they again started crimes, said the police, who recovered the stolen booty.
