Hyderabad: Six forcibly marry off girl, arrested
Hyderabad: The Medchal police arrested six persons for forcibly marrying off an engineering student, a daughter of a retired CISF jawan with her relative at Oxygen Park in Kandlakoya near Kompally on Thursday.
The young couple was at Oxygen Park when activists reached there and forced the couple to get married on the Valentine’s Day.
The accused also reportedly misbehaved with the girl who went missing after the marriage.
At about 11 am on Thursday, a video of two youngsters forcibly getting married went viral and reached the girl’s father, K. Jaipal Reddy.
Mr Reddy, who had dropped his daughter at college in the morning, was shocked to see the video and rushed to the college. He found that she was not there and rushed to Oxygen Park. He did not find her there and as her mobile was switched off.
He later lodged a complaint with police, who are searching for her. M. Gangadhar, Medchal inspector, said that six persons — M. Srihari Chary, 35, K. Anand, 21, K. Avinash, 23, P. Ashok, 23, B. Suresh Kumar, 23, and T. Chandra Shekar, 21, were arrested. A case has been booked against them for wrongful confinement of the girl.
