Hyderabad: Robbers targeted a woman morning walker outside KBR Park on Tuesday. A chain snatcher who pretended to be a walker walked behind Rashmitha Reddy, grabbed her 30 gram gold chain and ran away. He later escaped on a bike driven by his friend. The police could not find any CCTVs in the area.
Rashimtha’s husband Lokesh Reddy was a few meters away from his wife when the incident occurred. He tried to chase the suspect in vain. Rashmitha said the snatcher was wearing a tracksuit, and was acting like a morning walker. “She and her husband were walking on the track outside the KBR Park. Her husband was a few metres behind her. The suspect, who was in his early 20s tailed her for sometime, snatched the chain and ran away,” a police officer from Banjara Hills police station said.
The couple alerted the police immediately. However, when police arrived they found that there were no CCTV cameras in the entire area. “CCTV cameras will be installed in this area in the next phase. Now, there is not even a single camera here,” said a police official.
