Police said that the accused were being identified with the help of video footage of the police's surveillance cameras.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cantonment police registered a case against six persons in connection with the attack on two police personnel at Palayam here on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, the accused were SFI activists and students of the University College here. The police did not mention the names of the accused in the FIR. The case was registered by invoking non-bailable sections for obstructing police officials from discharging their duties.

Police said that the accused were being identified with the help of video footage of the police's surveillance cameras. Police also claimed that efforts were on to nab the accused.

However, there were allegations that a section of police officials having allegiance to the CPM were trying to sabotage the investigation.

The SFI leadership had maintained that SFI activists were not involved in the incident. But the police suspect that an SFI leader of University College unit Nazim and another SFI activist Aroma were among those who unleashed the attack.
