Hyderabad: In a macabre incident, a five-year-old girl was gagged, raped and bludgeoned by a 23-year-old construction worker in Narsingi on Tuesday evening.
The minor was lured by Dinesh Kumar Dharne, a resident of the Aryamitra labour camp in Alkapur township, who took her to a nearby shop under the pretext of buying chocolates, said the police.
On Tuesday afternoon, he took her to a nearby kirana shop to buy her chocolates and returned alone, said the mother of the victim, Ambika Mishra, 28, a housewife and a resident of the labour camp.
“When he came back alone after a long time, Ambika asked him about her daughter. He replied that he dropped her a while ago and that she might be playing somewhere in the camp,” said G.V. Ramana Goud, inspector of Narsingi.
When the girl’s parents could not find her anywhere, they approached the police at around 5:30pm on Tuesday and booked a kidnapping case. “During the investigation, Dinesh was questioned and he confessed his role,” added the inspector. “After giving her chocolates, he took her to the bushes, and raped her twice, holding her mouth closed with his hands. When she fell unconscious, fearing that she may spill the beans, he murdered her by hitting her with a cement boulder on her head,” said Mr Goud, adding that the body was found near the compound wall of Sri Shirdi Sai Prem Samaj Hospital of Narsingi. The body was shifted to the Osmania Hospital for a postmortem.
The accused is charged under Sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting) 376A (rape) and 302 (murder) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Pocso Act.
