Belagavi: A 21-year-old old soldier was shot dead by his father and two others sustained severe bullet wounds when a quarrel broke out in their family late on Monday night at Bailhongal. The dead soldier, Eeranna Indi, was working in Bengaluru and had come to his hometown on leave.
A quarrel broke out between in the family over a financial issue following which Vithal Indi, father of the soldier, took a revolver and started firing at all members of the family. While Eeranna died on the spot, Vithal's wife Anusuya (40) and daughter Preeti (19) sustained bullet injuries.
The condition of Anusuya, who sustained three bullet wounds, and Preeti with one injury is stated to be critical. Leaving all the three in a pool of blood, Vithal fled but was caught by the police on Tuesday afternoon.
After Eeranna came home two days ago, his father was pestering him for money to buy a bike. When Eeranna, his mother and sister entered into a fight, Vithal fired at all of them. Vithal was constantly harassing his wife, daughter and son for the past many years, the police said.
