Plea against CBI probe in Perumbavoor rape case
Kochi: The mother the Perumbavoor rape case victim, has informed the Kerala High Court that she will file a petition against the pleas seeking a CBI probe into the rape and murder case. The pleas filed by the father and classmates of the victim questioning the probe being conducted by the police and the chargesheet filed by them are pending before the court. When the case came up for hearing, counsel for the victim's mother said that she will file a plea opposing a CBI probe. The court asked the state to submit its stand.
The victim's father claimed that the chargesheet submitted by the police against Assam native Ameerul Islam was not based on the post-mortem report and argued that there were differences in the chargesheet and post- mortem report. He said Ameerul Islam could not rape and kill her alone as she was a healthy person. He came to know about the trial after the court issued summons. He also sought a police probe into the distribution of water through the canal on the banks of which the victim and her mother used to stay. The police statement that the accused left his sandals and weapon near the crime scene was dubious, he said.
