Coimbatore: The city police have launched a search for an agent who is on the run after allegedly duping many unemployed youth by issuing ‘fake appointment orders’ for government jobs.
Police said that Perumal, 55, a resident of Pollachi befriended Kulasekaran, 47, through one of his common friends a few years ago. Kulasekaran, a native of Tirunelveli district called Perumal a few months ago and claimed that he had contact with higher officials of TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) and using their influence, could get a government job for anybody.
Trusting him, Perumal introduced 10 of his relatives to Kulasekaran. The later received up to Rs 57 lakh from 10 youth, promising them government jobs.
Recently Kulasekaran gave appointment orders to the youth. When they went to the government departments to join duty, to their utter shock they came to know that the orders were ‘fake’ ones, said police.
On receiving information from the affected youth, Perumal called Kulasekaran and demanded that he return the money. Kulasekaran refused to do so and threatened Perumal that he would kill him if asked to return the money.
On receiving a complaint form Perumal, city crime branch police have launched a search for Kulasekaran who is on the run.
