Father, son hacked to death by masked assailants

HYDERABAD: Unidentified assailants murdered a 78-year-old man, Narsimhula Narsimha Murthy, and his son at their home at Ramanthapur under the Rachakonda commissionerate on Friday.

When Murthy’s son Srinivas went to his father's aid, the assailants attacked him as well, killing both of them on the spot, police said. Srinivas, who used to work for a software firm in Malaysia, had returned home recently. Murthy was sitting in his home when two masked men stormed in and attacked him around 5.30 am on Friday. Hearing his father's cries, Srinivas rushed to his father's aid on the first floor of their house, but the suspects attacked him as well, killing both of them instantly.

The masked assailants also threatened the domestic help, who was present at the time of the crime, with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing the scene.

Malkajgiri DCP Rakshitha K Murthy stated that the police are investigating from various angles "The suspects could have attacked the victims with sickles. Only after the suspects are apprehended will the exact motive for the murder and other details be revealed."

The murder, according to police, was motivated by land disputes. Narsimha Murthy and his siblings were also found to be at odds over ancestral properties, which are currently being fought in court, according to police. Soon after receiving information about the double murder, an Uppal police team, along with the scientific CLUES, arrived on the scene and began an investigation.

The Clues team and dog squad inspected the area and gathered evidence that could lead them to the suspects, according to police. A murder case has been filed against the unidentified assailants at the Uppal police station on the basis of a complaint filed by Narsimha Murthy's elder son Venkateshwarlu.
