Vizag rape case assumes new twist

Medical opinion disclosed that the victim is suffering from depression.

Visakhapatnam: The rape case in which a 24-year-old woman was repeatedly raped by her father and her brother has assumed a different twist as the cops said that medical examination report revealed that there is no evidence against habitual sexual intercourse.

It may recalled that the woman has lodged a complaint with Two-Town police station a month back, saying that she was repeatedly raped by her father and brother. The police registered a case and investigated.

DCP (Law and Order) North Zone, Fakirappa K. said that during the examination, the investigation officer found inconsistency in the girl’s statement and referred the case for medical examination. Medical opinion disclosed that the victim is suffering from depression.

“The victim demanded money from father frequently to the tune of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 for lavish spending. The victim was inconsistent with her statement and relatives also said that the allegations made by her are baseless,” he said.

The DCP also added that victim has been approaching various women organisations to put pressure on the investigation.
