Anantapur: A nursing student made suicide attempt following repeated harassment by eve teasers at Guntakal in the district. The 19-year-old first year student was studying first year nursing at SKP college in Guntakal in the district. A group of seniors turned as eve teasers and were teasing her for the past few days during college hours.
Vexed over repeated eve teasing and harassment, the student made suicide attempt by consuming super vasmol hair oil at her room on Friday. Her room mates noticed the student fell into unconsciousness and immediately shifted to general hospital. The girl was being treated at Guntakal area hospital and doctors said she was safe.
Infact, rumours widely spread over ragging in the college that a group of seniors ragged the junior student that forced her to made suicide attempt. Guntakal DSP Sridhar Rao, confirmed the incident occurred and no ragging was witnessed in the college and hostel premises. A case was registered based on the information by the student and a manhunt was launched to nab the eve teasers.
